“We will not apologize for our way of life…

…nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.”
No moral relativism from President Obama. No root causes. A clear triumphalism. How, er, un-Canadian. Not that our pundits will notice.
Overall, the address was one from a stern, yet graceful, headmaster upbraiding the school assembled and reminding them of the school’s great past, the values therein encapsulated–and its potential future.
He might also have been a military commander addressing troops who have shown signs of faltering. Now he is working to rebuild their faith in themselves, with tough language and his personal confidence–and without theatre. No Patton, but a very cool, crisp and determined leader.
Well done. On verra.

  1. On verra indeed. My money’s on it being, like the proverbial barber’s cat, all wind and p*ss (pardon my asterisk).
Still, it would be nice to hear a Canadian politician say it and actually mean it. Maybe Jason Kenney or Colin Kenny.

  2. This indeed was a marvelous statement from President Obama , and it must make many on the left shudder.
No matter what your political stripe , during the presidential campaign , the MSM have exposed themselves as totally biased and not to be trusted to report factually.
Personally I am going to enjoy watching the MSM who have been so unanimous in their praise of Obama , being forced to choke back and eat any words of disapproval !
… either way the MSM plays it they will lose in credibility.

  3. On verra? Screw that. Oy Vey! try. The “we” Obama referred to is America’s Left and the “spirit” to which he refers is the socialist “change” – damage – it will inflict upon the rights and lifestyle of “bitter” clingers who voted for Palin.
His entire philosophy is one of apologetics… There was more inconsistency and bullshit in his magnum opus than a Dawg column.
“No moral relativism.” Sorry Mark, read the damned thing again.
